Administration
Kyle Vierra - Principal
Early Life
I grew up in Moss Landing, CA, nestled in beautiful Monterey County, and graduated from North Monterey County High School. Following my passion for education, I earned a BA in Elementary Education from Sterling College in central Kansas. Recently, I completed my MA in Administrative Leadership at National University.
Career
During my college years in Kansas, I balanced academics with my love for football, earning multiple academic All-American awards during my four-year tenure on the field. After graduation, I began my teaching career focusing on 6th-grade math and science. After three fulfilling years in Kansas, I returned home to support my family and found myself drawn to the lively atmosphere of junior high education. Following a move to Redding on a whim, I spent several years at Mistletoe School before pursuing my MA and transitioning into school administration. I've had the privilege of serving Boulder Creek and Parsons Junior High for the past three years as an assistant principal and am now thrilled to be rejoined at Parsons as the Principal.
Life Outside School
In 2020, I married my best friend, Sarah. Our household is joyfully chaotic with four large dogs who keep us on our toes. Our greatest happiness comes from exploring the outdoors together through mountain biking and hiking, weight lifting, and activities that fuel our sense of adventure.
Caryn Emerson - Associate Principal
Early Life
I was born on the East Coast, New Jersey, to be exact. When I was six years old, my family moved to Southern California. I went to elementary school, junior high school, and high school in Covina, California. Growing up in Southern California has made me a big fan of the beach. That's where I like to spend my relaxation time.
Education
I started my college career at UC Davis thinking I wanted to head in the direction of nutrition. But I missed Southern California and ended up graduating from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. I graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies and went on to earn my multiple-subject teaching credential for elementary education. Later, I earned my Administrative credential at Simpson University in Redding, California.
Career
I began my teaching career in 4th and 5th grade in La Puente, California. I also spent a few years teaching in the GATE program for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. After moving to Redding, I taught 3rd grade at Boulder Creek, and served as the Site Literacy Teacher at both Lassen View and Parsons for 8 years. Next, I worked as an Assistant Principal at Parsons, Mistletoe, and Boulder Creek. I then worked at Lassen View for 10 years as Principal. It was an amazing experience! I am currently taking on the role of Associate Principal at Parsons Jr. High. It is great to be back at my old stomping grounds.
